I don't really understand the security problem. If hair is in the account table, why not move the entry to the inventory table (rename it to personal_data or something?). Then changing hair style will be the same as changing armor. Did I understand this incorrectly?

I love this idea and have wanted something like this ever since I started playing. At the very least, give us something that lets us change through all the options available on original character creation. It would be nice to take a tyrian character and add appearances from the expansions, etc.

It feels kinda weird, though, the plastic surgery thing. But with hair style change and color change we'd have more diversity..
(I'd hate to think that A.Net doesn't want to do this so players will buy more character slots for their accounts so they can keep old chars... )

i will explain again as Gaile Gray stated.
the account is created as a single entry therefore they (ANET/NCSOFT) are UNABLE to change a single bit of that account database..
they CAN NOT change part of that account period.
and neither can some hacker.

Even if its a security issue and can't be done. In any MMO this should have been in since day one.

hello?........hello?
THIS IS NOT AN MMO in the usual sense.
the accounts were set up on PURPOSE...REPEAT .....ON PURPOSE
to be unchangeable to prevent any chance of hacking.
Jeff Strain says so Anet says so.
they said........
they cannot do it
they did not say we wont do it.
if IT CANT BE DONE WHY STILL WHINE OVER IT?

Any online roleplaying game of any kind, MMO, CCO, whatever, should have a stylist. Its a major feature almost constant in various games. I just said i knew it can't be done.
And it should be said and repeatedly stressed so the next time Anet makes a game, be it the next Guild Wars 2 or w/e, they realize that they should put one in. Every person that wants it should hang it over their head so they know constantly how bad they need to do it the next time around.
The next time around they should on purpose, repeat, on purpose, separate hair changes and styling outside of the account table, and everyone who wants that needs to let them know it, so you can change it.
Letting your customers change your characters hair style shouldn't make your Online RPG hackable/open to duping. There's plenty of games where you can change your hair without (reasonably) worrying about hacking.

/signed just because i think a characters appearance shouldnt be final.
though, i would personally not change any of my characters, i still recognize the usefulness of such a feature.
the monetary (platinum or gold) charge involved should be put in place soley so that it's not abused.

/signed - I just ran into a R/D who had exactly the same look as my girlfriends character... Weird ^^
About the security issue... I'm sure Anet can find a way to go around it...
